Victory opens fire at Trafalgar 1805

Description

This shows HMS Victory forcing her way between the 74 gun Bucentaure, which flies the white flag of Admiral Villeneuve and the Redoutable.   Victory bears the scars of having been under fire for sometime during her run in at 2.5 knots on the rolling swells.   Her gun crews have started to rake Bucentaure’s stern.

This painting was sold at auction through Christie’s in London.
