Description

The 44 gun American frigate Constitution captained by Isaac Hull met up with the 38 gun British frigate Guerrière of Captain Dawes in August 1812. After a fierce battle Dawes was forced to surrender having become totally dismasted. Hull would not accept Dawes’ sword, but took his hat instead!.
