The colourful homemade sailing craft were rigged with an assortment of sails. With the steel band playing at the bar on the beach and the rum punches being consumed by the spectators, most of the boats either sank or lost their masts, after just one lap of the course in the warm moderate breeze.
In the background is the entrance to St George’s Harbour with a couple of typical schooners, which cruise between the Caribbean Islands.
